Unlike most people, I don’t have the typical phobias of spiders or snakes. No, my phobias are a bit strange…birds for one due to haunting memories of being chased by birds as a young child. So I present my “phobia” for Illustration Friday. It’s a soft pastel sketch with a couple layers of photoshop filters.

Actually, birds are scary! Especially when they start flapping their wings close by! This is a gorgeous drawing though.
Kinda like a shot you’d see of wwII fighter planes in a dog fight. It definitely provides a spooky perspective, yet quite captivating. Nice work.

Thanks for all the positive feedback…I’ve been wanting to try working with different subject matter for a change of pace so it’s good to hear that I’m heading in the right direction. The original is quite small with even more birds, but I tend to like this close up version. It might be a good piece to explore working on as a larger painting.
I love the colours you’ve used, they really evoke the fear. I like birds but I know a number of people who fear them so it’s not just you
