code is poetry

123006.jpgAh, the joys of coding your own site. It’s been a fun little project to come home to every night this week. Slowly, but surely, I’m getting it back to it’s former glory. I think I might have finally decided on a theme so I can focus on the content. There is still a ton of images that need to be uploaded for older posts, but I must say I’m so glad that I finally decided to code my own site with WordPress. There are just a ton of cool things that you can do with your own site. Everything has been smooth sailing so far, but I’ll need to back-up everything pretty soon now that I have to maintain the website myself, which probably sounds like greek to some of you out there in cyber-land. I know Brian has no idea of half the time of the coding I’m talking about so I’ll probably need to find some fellow WordPress coders out there. So as weird as it might sound to some of you…code is poetry to me right now.

Yup, I have no clue about code. I used to know HTML 1.0… But all this PHP and CSS and RSS and such sounds like so much alphabet soup. Now I would be hard pressed to remember how to close a bold tag. Seriously, I have no idea, hehe.

Right now Nat still has image portions of all the old archives to transfer. This is done by madly dancing around the computer while shaking herbs and chicken bones and chanting, apparently. I am not really too sure of the digital alchemy that makes it possible, but we’re not losing a shred of data from the previous site.

I’m pretty happy with how the site is shaping up and we should be fully functioning very soon, with a ton more features.

    Stay tuned!

It’s looking lovely! Well done! :)

I’ve been pondering about the same thing, too. I’ve had very little time to play with it, but I uploaded WordPress to my other domain (yet to be announced), and can’t wait to get working and coding. Having worked with MT for the past years, I’m finding myself lost in all the PHP play in WordPress. Intimidating at times, for sure.

    Hey zee!

Sigh, I have no understanding of PHP whatsoever… Natalie loves it, like a person addicted to crossword puzzles. LOL…
